Why?
Aromatherapy is the treatment or prevention of disease by use of herbal plants. Two basic mechanisms are offered to explain the purported effects. One is the influence of aroma on the brain, especially the limbic system through the olfactory system. The other is the direct pharmacological effects of the herbal plant . While precise knowledge of the synergy between the body and aromatic herb is often claimed by aromatherapists, some preliminary clinical studies show positive effects.

History
Aromatherapy had been around for 6000 years or more. The Greeks, Romans, and ancient Egyptians all used aromatherapy oils and plants. The Egyptian physician Imhotep recommended fragrant oils and plants for bathing, massage, and for relaxation nearly 6000 years ago. Imhotep is the Egyptian god of medicine and healing.
